KNOWLEdge is Power

Informing yourself to make better choices about your environment is critical.  Most people think about the dangers to the larger environment - weather, oceans, earth - but about about the 'micro' environments that we live in everyday?  We spend more time in our homes and our workplaces than anywhere else.  Knowing the dangers of what is invisible to us in these places help us to get rid of them and make healthier and more productive environments.  The Living Electricity Institute is committed to providing information to inform and inspire better decisions for the personal environments around us everyday.

DIRTY ELECTRICiTY

Electrical pollution, otherwise known as dirty electricity is a term used to describe a type of electrical phenomenon occurring worldwide. However, the phenomenon is not widely known, and can be complex to understand. Research and case studies have shown that consumers should learn about electrical pollution, how it is controlled and measured, the health effects, and public protection against electrical pollution.

Electrical pollution is not something you can see, smell, taste, or touch. It is not something you can sense, making it difficult for one to be aware of the presence of electrical pollution. With this in mind, it is important to understand what causes electrical pollution and what to look for in your everyday environment.

CLEAN AIR

The quality of indoor air inside offices, workplaces and homes is important not only for peoples' comfort but also for their health. Poor indoor air quality has been tied to symptoms like headaches, fatigue, trouble concentrating, and irritation of the eyes, nose, throat and lungs.

The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) links this to "sick building syndrome" (which describes situations in which building occupants experience acute health and comfort effects that appear to be linked to time spent in a building, but no specific illness or cause can be identified) or "building related illness" (where symptoms of diagnosable illness are identified and can be attributed directly to airborne building contaminants.)
